Think you can’t paint? Never picked up a paintbrush since school? Then this course is for you!

Abstract painting relies on design, colour and composition. Learn how to free up your work with loose and expressive mark making which results in exciting and dynamic artwork. You will learn how to:

​

● Use colour and tone working with complementary colours

● Learn how to use collage and other mixed media for dramatic effect

● Explore different paint application techniques

● Use brush marks, palette knives, acrylics, pencils and everything in between!

● Produce a finished painting, ready to hang

Let’s try Mixed Media!

Abstract painting relies on design, colour and composition. Learn how to untether your work which results in exciting and dynamic artwork using mixed media to produce amazing artworks You will learn how to:

​

● Use composition, colour and tone to produce swift and impressive results

● Learn how to use collage and other mixed media for dramatic effect

● Explore different paint application techniques

● Explore layering and mark making techniques

● Produce a finished painting, ready to hang

Let’s Abstract the Landscape!

2 days - beginners and improvers

​

This is an opportunity to learn the knack of abstraction, learning new techniques to achieve fantastic results. 

You will be shown how to formulate atmospheric paintings. Abstract painting relies on design, colour and composition. You will explore how formal creative concepts can influence and help as you work. Learn how to untether your work from the subject matter which results in exciting and dynamic artwork. You will learn how to:

● Use colour and tone to alter the sense of reality

● Learn how to use collage and other mixed media for dramatic effect

● Explore different paint application techniques

● Use brush marks, palette knives, acrylics, pencils, inks and more

● Explore layering and mark making techniques

● Produce at least one finished painting, ready to hang!

All courses include materials, refreshments and lunch together with free parking on site.  All courses are one-to-one and each course can be structured to your needs so you can learn at your own pace and level of experience.
